  1. How do the tulip canning jars work? What keeps the lids on?

  2. This jar is made by Weck, a line of charmingly-shaped canning jars in various sizes. The jar has a glass lid sealed by a rubber gasket (between jar and lid) and metal clips that clamp the lid down tight. Then, if you like, you can heat-seal them in the traditional way, using a water bath. I simply clamp the jar shut and attach a note with the name of the preparation, some ideas as to how to use it, and PLEASE REFRIGERATE in large letters. You can order Weck jars at http://www.weckcanning.com/

  3. i’ve made these apricots in cardamom syrup for a gift before. they were amazingly plump and lovely, made my apartment smell incredible, and were very well received!
