We were looking for a little gift to leave on the blog this last day of summer and thought The Wilderness Downtown would be just right…It is one of the very best things we’ve seen on the internet: crazy beautiful, imaginative, really surprising and moving…

click here, have patience while it loads, and watch to the end…

Wishing you a wonderful Labor Day!

  1. OMG, as the young things exclaim. THAT was f—in amazing as a screen experience. So many fascinating and disparate parts that hold together. The “write a note to your younger self” interactive aspect was mind-blowing, when the starlings (or whatever they were) came to rest for a second on my “hand-drawn” typography. Ooooohhhh, that was quite mesmerizing. I’m going back for more.

  2. Beautiful splash screen, but it didn’t accept any address I’ve ever lived at!

  3. Yes, I noticed the same thing at a friend’s computer. You’ve probably guessed by now that towards the end of the movie, windows open with different views of the address, for a startling effect. problem is, the Google technology it uses doesn’t have close up images of every address, so windows will open with no image…

It gave me the error message with one address I tried and I told it to go ahead anyway and the all the windows loaded. It’s worth trying with an address it will accept just to see how it works. Sorry it didn’t work for you.
