A screenprint by one of Finland’s most famous artist Miina Äkkijyrkkä, hangs in the stairwell. Her only subject and passion is the indigenous Kyytto cows, which Nurmi raises. (Check out her giant colorful cow sculptures made of car parts here.)

The Nurmi’s are serious cooks. The kitchen is fueled by two stoves: one new and a traditional wood-fired flat-top and hearth:

  1. Dream house indeed! It looks like Carl Larsson’s house with a few modern appliances added in. If there is a heaven, my house there would look like that.
