Post It Table

Cynthia Caldwell sent us a link to this Post-It table she spotted at Design Taxi with this note: “Love this idea-post it size desk pad. Couldn’t find where you can actually buy one but I think I need it NOW for my son Russell.”

It appears the table is one of those tantelizing design one-offs that would cost a fortune to buy. We’ve seen a number of iterations of the idea over the past few years. For us, it has the essential design flaw of regular-size Post-It notes: that awful yellow color.

So of course, we set about figuring out how to MAKE our own custom post-it table, with paper we like. Here are two approaches:

-Get a nice table or desk or just use the one you have. Then use a huge, 25″  x 30.5″ Post-it Self-Stick Easel Pad as a “blotter” to draw or write whatever you want as you work. At $47.14 for two 30-sheet pads, that’ll add up to about .78 a page –  not cheap, but cool and convenient. (If you buy 4 pads, the per page price drops to .69 a page.)

-Buy a huge pad of white paper, like Lineco Lecturer’s White Bond Paper (50 sheets of 27″ x 34″ paper, about $16 at Blick or Amazon) or finer, artist’s quality Strathmore 18″ x 24″ Drawing Medium Paper Pad (24-Sheets for about $18). When you have something you want to put on the wall, safely stick it up using a Restickable Glue Stick, to make your own giant post-it.

We’ve stuck all sorts of pictures we’ve found and clipped and printed using a restickable glue stick and have never had it damage a wall. Miracle stuff.

If you really want to go ‘designer’ on the post-it table, you can find or make a table EXACTLY the size of the paper you’re using…but we think space around the pad makes more sense…more like Dieter Roths’s great art tables.

  1. Soup Studio designed the table which is priced around $1,250

  2. That post-it table is brilliant. Pricey as they are, those sticky-pads are one of the best office-supplies going, I may have to adapt this…

  3. This is amazing i will use it everyday! Just a question though, is there anyway to make you own pad of paper? It mentions that you can use white paper, but could you please explain this in further detail? Thanks! Brilliant!

  4. You just buy a pad of paper you like and place it on the desk. Make your drawing or sign or whatever, tear it off and then use run your repositionable glue stick along the back and tack it on the wall (the glue is repositionable like a post-it).
