Here’s the kind of thing that happens all the time around here:

I was looking at a stack of poetry books — my morning reading — for a poem to post for a shift of view. I flipped through Gary Snyder, Su Tung Po, Pablo Neruda, then got distracted by an email. It was from a reader commenting on the evening’s post about artst Gene Davis’ striped street painting. Wonder who this guy is? I thought, and followed his link.

Ed Baker, the commenter, is a poet. On his site, are books of poetry…and these poems. The first by 18th century Japanese Poet Yosa Buson, handwritten on the flyleaf of Baker’s book Shrike.  The second by Baker himself
