A few days ago, we heard the great Linda Ellerbee speak about her long, ever-surprising career in journalism, and her life. We have her voice saying “And so it goes” in our heads STILL from the great news show, Weekend. For the past 21 years, so she’s been hosting Nick News, a news show for kids that is so clear and well-written that we’re checking in with it daily as our news source. She cuts through the noise and confusion and frames things in an intelligent, measured way.

Ellerbee’s big message is about surfing change which she has, stunningly well, through marriage and divorce, kids, breast cancer and a long career in a field that does not take well to aging women.

What I like most about change is that it’s a synonym for ‘hope.’ she says. “If you are taking a risk, what you are really saying is, ‘I believe in tomorrow and I will be part of it.”
