We wish we could embed this interactive wind map right on Improvised Life.  You can see the wind whirling and flowing anywhere on Earth you choose, and around the whole earth at any given time, the constant that touches us all.  The invisible wind is made visible, and wondrous.

(We’re also thinking this would make a sublime, rather magical Harry Potter-ish Christmas ornament.)

The origins of this beautiful map lie in a wind map of the United States, with its ‘delicate tracery of wind’ in black and white, created as a personal art project:

An invisible, ancient source of energy surrounds us—energy that powered the first explorations of the world, and that may be a key to the future.
