At Neatorama the other day, we came across this image of a scribble a kid made on the wall with the headline “Now What?”. The answer was the clever stenciled pattern that disguised the original.

We appreciate the resourcefulness shown but realize we like the original — with its je-ne-said-quoi freeform modernity — better. It made us think of the times we felt the need to fix something that was really fine just the way it was, and a friend with a more “open” eye called our attention to its beauty.

Sometimes it’s good to step back before fixing something and reflect. It just might have a beauty worth keeping.
