Liu Lingchao built a makeshift dwelling to house himself as he walked back to his hometown in China. He has carried it on his shoulders daily for five years as he walks home.

The house is about 5 feet wide and 7 feet meters tall; it weighs about 130 pounds. It is made of plastic and fabric on a structure of bamboo poles lashed together with twine. It is outfitted with minimal essentials for cooking and sleeping.

On his way, Liu Linchao refused to accept help from strangers. He preferred to survive by collecting discarded plastic bottles meant for recycling.
