Improvised Life Editorial Assistant Mira Keras‘s two-and-three-quarters-years-old daughter Gogo is incredibly expressive, although sometimes Mira isn’t sure if Gogo means to say her unique formation of words or is still trying to get a handle on them.  No matter.

Lately when someone says goodbye to Gogo, she replies:

Thank you for seeing me!

When we heard it, we thought: Gogo nailed it…

THAT’S what we all want and need: to be truly seen and heard.  We’re reminded of the great psychotherapist Virginia Satir’s words:

I believe the greatest gift I can conceive of having from anyone is to be seen by them, heard by them, to be understood and touched by them.

The greatest gift I can give is to see, hear, understand and to touch another person. When this is done I feel contact has been made.

We’re wondering: How can we do that MORE with the people we meet?

  1. If ‘recognition’ is “the greatest”,
‘rejection’ has to be “the worst”.

    Back to “the greatest”,
    ‘re’-cognation.
    “To be understood.”*
    I think,
this is the most we can hope for.

*not to be confused with: “agreement”..

    gallagher,…in a rainy day.

  2. ‘Freedom’ is achieving Understanding.
