This stop-action video tracking 5 years of one man’s appearance makes us wonder how much how we look, and what our style is, affects our experience and identity…

…And the many choices we can make about our appearance.

Going through airport security checkpoint a couple of weeks ago, the TSA agent looked at Sally’s passport picture and said, “Why did you change your hair?”

Sally: Then

She kept staring down at the picture and then back at Sally…

Sally: Now

Finally she said, “I liked you the old way better. Why did you change?”

H-e-l-l-0!!! Why did she change?!!!

Why NOT change?!

What do you think we’re here for?

  1. Thanks Molly. The fact is, that straight-haired picture was taken 100 years ago, in another life really. Had I kept it, I think I would have stayed petrified. (And I have a secret theory, that hair is attennae…haha).

  2. That’s hilarious that the TSA person would say that to you! I’m cracking up at the audacity —

  3. As a natural-curly haired person myself – I love the antennae theory! That would explain so many things!!!!!!

  4. ha, yeah, it does explain A LOT!

  5. I love each of these YOUs. But the current one the most. Always the current one….

  6. You absolutely ROCK the “natural” look. No need to “change” that.

  7. Not sure my comment posted, so apologies if duplicated. You absolutely ROCK the natural look. No need to “change” that.
