This morning in my Inbox, my daily email from Seth Godin‘s blog carried an unexpected gift: a free, downloadable ebook called What Matters Now:

And each of it’s 82 pages is, indeed, inspiring and thought-provoking, REAL. There are interesting and useful takes on Fear, Dignity, Meaning, Ease, Strengths, Technology, Enough, (Dis)trust, and Sleep, to name a few. Many are mightily therapeutic.
The book also spreads a big dose of generosity…Think of the time and energy and $$ – months of work – that went into making it…
Godin’s motive:
“Now, more than ever, we need to shake things up. Now, more than ever, we need a different way of thinking, a useful way to focus and the energy to turn the game around.”
He also hopes the book can find it’s way into the hands (and minds) of five million people by the simple act of one person giving it to another. Imagine that degree of viral, global gift-giving.

I love the page on Change. My daughter works with so many kids who seem determined to fail rather than achieve….perhaps the questions raised in this little blurb could produce a similar effect.

Thanks for your words, Betty. The thing that knocks me out every daily is that there is so much great information, like this amazing book, that is for free on the internet: a world of it. So I wonder, what is the way to get it to the kids you mention, to show them that much is possible?
