We recently came across our SWINGS file that lay forgotten on our computer. There we found all manner of swings hung INSIDE the house, mostly in the living room, where they become a thing of delight for both children and grown-ups: a kinetic sculpture-of-a-seat that gives the pleasure of being rocked, of air, and somehow, of outside. Traditional swings work best in big spaces with high ceilings and room to fly…

…we love this swing for two:

… but a hammock is a kind of swing that works fine in smaller spaces. Once hooks are securely screwed into the walls, the hammock can be left up or taken down. Sally hung a hammock in her bedroom when she was a teenager, for literally hanging out, and taking dreamy naps instead of doing homework…

Daybeds and settees can double as swings in large and small spaces. We’re crazy about this stately old settee suspended outdoors…

  1. Hi my name is Arelina and my daughters name is Laila. Laila is 10 and was born with 4p-, a rare chromosome syndrome. Due to her condition she uses a wheel chair and is dependent on me for all her day to day needs. I am writing your company because her father and I are trying to put together a sensory room in our house for her. she receives many forms of therapy and play is one of them. We would love to put one of your swings in her special room because it would provide comfortable and safe swinging and she would absolutely love it! Unfortunately all the stuff she would benefits from can be expensive and we are unable to afford all of it on our own at this time. we are hoping companies like yourself would be interested in donating something or sponsoring for Lailas sensory room. we would aslo make a video and take lots of pics of what we receive and post it to all of our social media accounts for all our friends, family, and followers to see! we would love to tell everyone about your company and how you support our kiddos with special needs 🙂 Thank you for your time. we hope we can hear back from you

  2. Hi, I’m afraid I’m not the company that makes the hammocks. This is a website that just reports inspiring ideas, and as such, we operate on very low margins (at a loss, really). You might contact the head of Trek Light Gear who makes great hammocks (or one of the hammock stand manufacturers). Perhaps they can help you. And if your daughters DO respond to swinging in hammocks, please let us know. Wishing you every good thing.
