We’ve documented our friend Maria Robledo’s inspired vase-less flower arrangements before. Usually, she would lay gorgeous flowers from her garden right in the center of the table. Recently, in the East Coast dead-of-winter, Maria worked her magic with vin ordinaire flowers she bought at the deli down the street.

Our pictures don’t do her lovely table justice, but you get the idea…

…When we looked closely we realized that she’d overlapped two different tablecloths. The mismatched glasses add nothing but charm and a comfortable informality.

What an eye!

  1. That wax flower is beautiful. If you get the chance crush the stem and needles, you will be rewarded with a delightful fragrance.

  2. First of all I have to say Improvised Life is my go-to spot to remember I live in a world much larger than the space I inhabit and I am so grateful for this resource.

I have a question about the Maria Robledo table posted this week, where does she find her beautiful table clothes? They are the perfection I have been looking for for many years.

    Regards,
    Diane

  3. Ahhhh, I didn’t think to crush one of the needles. Darn. Too much going on (a birthday party). Thank you for the headsup.

  4. Oh thank you for the wonderful description.

And I will forward this to Maria and see if she can tell us where she finds her clothes (though I have the feeling the answer is…everywhere, and especially in her travels). Stay tuned.

  5. I sent your comment to Maria and here’s what she wrote:
“I got these damask cloths in St Petersberg. In a open market! Thank u.”
