(Video link here.)  Depending on where you live, cherry blossom season is either approaching, in process, or in full astonishing bloom. In a week or two it will all be over. Brooklyn Botanic Garden’s former webmaster Dave Allen’s time-lapse video taken near the Cherry Esplanade made us SEE just what was happening around us, almost before our very eyes. (We recommend watching with the music OFF). It only takes a moment to STOP and take it the fabulous colors as we walk by a blossoming tree.

And of course, we love reading haiku about cherry blossoms at this time of year. Here are two by Kobayashi Issa:

What a strange thing!
to be alive
beneath cherry blossoms

In the cherry blossom’s shade
there’s no such thing
as a stranger

And to really see the miracle that’s occurring as we wander, just out this 30 seconds beauty of a video (Video link here.)
