While walking with a friend, I stopped to open a crumpled piece of paper lying on the ground. When he looked at me puzzled I said: You never know what interesting messages you’ll find if you look. I come across amazing things all the time hidden in plain sight…

The next day he sent a photo of the inspiring message he’d SEEN while waiting for a bus, just by shifting his focus a bit.

He turned it over to discover that the leaving of it might now have been that random (though the finding was).

I found this snippet political/social commentary on a subway seat: If Hillary makes it Bill would be FGOTUS.

Some messages are quite mysterious. Jazzy unfolded to…

What was a broken Barry White record doing in a field in the nearby park? We better get it together.

One of my favorites was a crayon drawing found on a park walkway, not far from the pool, with the message: We can. Just keep swimming. Almost there.

The next day, Josh sent me another message he spotted. Utterly sweet.

These messages are a little different from graffiti; they are meant for private consumption…evidence of love, determination, dreams, imagination…

  1. I’ve got to start doing this!!! What do you do with them after you’ve read them?

  2. Mostly I just leave them for others to find…(sometimes displayed more prominently) Occasionally I bring one home for a while.

  3. I love that you leave them – or position them better. That’s what I will do too but I think I will also take a screenshot of those that really tickle my fancy and maybe keep them in a folder. Funny, even as I said “keep” them I’m struck by how much I prefer the idea of them waiting to be seen by someone else… or maybe the person didn’t mean to drop it and would actually come back looking for it.
