This is the first piece of trompe l’oeil, conceptual art jewelry we’ve seen, stumbled upon at the great, every-surprising tumblr Artists’ Books, Multiples and Editions. It takes the classic, waspy pearl necklace to a whole new level.
It’s curious that googling trompe l’oeil necklace and conceptual necklace yielded little that we felt we could actually use (our bottom line)…though this IS a rather a rather compelling statement: MacBook, harvested Facebook statuses from unsecured profiles by people unknown to the artist, acrylic, steel. 2012.

They are still available on Ebay, though they’re pricey. We’re thinking we could make some nice conceptual necklaces out of sets of temporary tattoos that are widely available. This pack of 75+holds lots of possibilities.
We love to HACK and CUSTOMIZE temporary tattoos. It’s easy using a trusty Exacto knife to pull out parts we like, or even make words…
