Eirik Solheim’s lovely time-lapse One Year in 40 Seconds reveals processes too subtle for the human eye and provides great, instant perspective: a reminder that the world is going on around us, doing its own creative thing, that change is the constant.

If you have the time, Solheim’s slightly longer, One Year in Two Minutes, has ethereal transitions that make for an effortless meditation.

We

No sooner had we watched the videos when we found this fragment from Rilke’s The Sonnets to Orpheus:

A tree ascended there. Oh pure transendence!
Oh Orpheus sings! Oh tall tree in the ear!
And all things hushed. Yet even in that silence
a new beginning, beckoning, change appeared.

Somehow, this blessing from a holy man in one of Rumi’s stories seems just right:

May God cause you to change your life
in the way you know you should.
