Our ever-inventive friend Susy Schneider recently mentioned her solution to a difficult floor repair she was in the middle of when she realized she needed knee pads to protect her wonky knees. Voila: an old bra did the trick. Most are shaped with memory foam these days, though no one calls them padded anymore. They affirm an interesting kinship between breasts and knees that we hadn’t considered.

Imagine how visually wonderful it would be to have knee pads as fab as the the cone bra designed by Jean Paul Gaultier that Madonna wore for her Blind Ambition Tour.  Sadly, good visuals aren’t always practical. Those cones would get squashed flat and offer none of the protection of the vin ordinaire model.
