We’ve used these these HUGE dish towels for many things in addition to drying dishes. They make wonderful wrapping “paper” that won’t get thrown away. We’ve draped them over ugly stacks of paper to calm the eye, used them overlapping as tableclothes for our smallish terrace tables, to take on picnics and especially, as drawer liners. We can imagine sewing two together on three sides to make a pillow cover for an standard size bed pillow, to use on a sofa or outdoor chair.

We washed them and…they strink only slightly and remain wonderful-looking (we especially like the bold, graphic stripe).  A set of three costs $17; they come in 14 colors.

Having been warned that their colors can bleed, we washed them separately in hot water and then dried them in a hot dryer. They shrank slightly from their original size of 36″ x 24″ to 32″ x 23″, and the white stayed white.

Then we compared them to a normal size dish towel; big difference!

A bundle of them makes a much-appreciated gift. You can buy ’em here..

  1. Fabulous towels! Try them to make summer weight Japanese work kimonos using patterns from http://www.folkwear.com and pleat-front cooking aprons. Play with the stripes and checks. Mix the colors. Fold them to use as edging trims on the bias. Two sets will make most anything to fit anyone.

  2. I really recommend large plain white, gauzy cotton “flour sack towels” as well! They dry super fast, and get softer with each wash. I do like the idea of having some striped/patterned ones like these though, as the plain white ones do get stained quickly!
