We are knocked out by Jerry Seinfeld’s radically truth-telling, funny —Is he kidding or what?— send up of advertising during his acceptance speech for a CLIO Awards, which honors creative advertising.

I love advertising because I love lying…

In advertising, everything is the way you wish it was.

I don’t care if that won’t be like that when I get the product being advertised because, in between seeing the commercial and owning the thing, I’m happy, and that’s all I want. Tell me how great the thing is going to be…

….If your things don’t make you happy, you’re not getting the right things.

It is a mighty useful principle. What THINGS make you happy?

Don’t miss Seinfeld’s fatso illuminating conversation with President Obama here.
