Listen to the Magic of Leonard Cohen’s Hallelujah Being Hummed Around the World

Among the many joys we experienced at Leonard Cohen: A Crack in Everything, the extraordinary exhibition at The Jewish Museum in New York City, is a room resonating with the sound of hundreds of people around the world humming Cohen’s anthem, Hallelujah.

I Heard There Was a Secret Chord is a participatory humming channel that takes the form of a physical room within the exhibit in which the humming can be experienced as sound and low-frequency vibration underfoot, AND a website through which visitors can listen.

Each person’s presence in the exhibit and online is transformed into a virtual choir of humming voices that participants can join to feel the collective resonance, an invisible vibration uniting people around the world currently listening to Leonard Cohen’s song.

It is a scientific and spiritual experiment to highlight the metaphysical connection between people on a common wavelength.”  To experience its magic in real-time, visit

Ring the bells that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack, a crack in everything
That’s how the light gets in.

Here it is as Cohen sang it…
